Carrie Nation, a.k.a. Carry A Nation, Mother of Pearl pin.
Given away as a fund raiser for the Woman's Christian Temperance Union,
movement by Mrs. Nation from 1900 until 1910.
This well preserved broach stands as silent witness to the growing power Women demanded in the late Victorian and Edwardian age.
An early pioneer feminist she protested radically for the ban of alcohol.
Carrie Nation and her famed Hatchet, were the bane of many a bar keeper and saloon dance hall.
Arrested 30 times, she paid her jail fines from lecture tour fees and sales of THESE souvenir rhinestone and MOP pin hatchets.
