Size: 12 1/2 x 10

May 13th 1860 was a very special day for David M. Wolfe. Admitted to Walnut Corner Sunday School of the Columbia and Hainesburgh Methodist Episcopal Church, at age 13. Signed by Superintendent Peter Bolles in fine hand. Interestingly David may not have been the original recipient of this paper ephemera honor as it appears there is another name scrawled under his though illegible. Entitled to all privileges during punctual attendance and good behavior, so states this certificate, sounding more like terms of parole. Fine engraved schoolhouse image and loosely transliterated scriptures, this rare American education document is housed behind glass, in a most incredible frame. Deeply carved and hand painted wood, its primitive folk design is equally impressive.
