A surprise, certainly not what you think. I recovered this coral covered glass bottle while scuba diving in the Great South Bay in Metro New York. At a depth of forty feet, it certainly looked like antique pottery as it was so well covered. To my surprise this old bottle turned out to be a modern glass Michelobe beer bottle and it's unusual coral animal covering made for an unusual sculptured effect. Quite decorative and great for maritime display. An interesting lesson on how quickly the sea reclaims with coral and hard lime sponge. |
